ROC was founded by Natalie Meyer in 2015, who served as executive director until September of 2018. ROC was originally an organization focused on connecting young adults from different backgrounds, areas of privilege, and socio-economic status through the act of service, whether between Vermont students and local refugee communities, or overseas in Ghana, where students worked in a global health context.
As of September 2019, following shifts in the organization’s leadership, ROC has a new and exciting focus. We will continue to emphasize the building of connections between young adults of different backgrounds. However, moving forward our mission is different. We will be focusing on encouraging and creating spaces for U.S. students to become involved in a U.S.—centered Student Movement for Refugee Rights.
As we grow into our new mission, we aim to contribute and help grow this existing movement, guided by our values.
